Has anyone else noticed its resemblance to the Remote/FM Radio for the 5G iPod...
Yes. I was in the airport and saw a guy walk by and I was about to stop him and yell "How the hell did you get the new iPod Shuffle already?!?!" but then I noticed the extra wire comming out of the bottom of it and going into his bag. Oh yeah, it's a remote. :o

...finally, outlook support! I was beginning to think the default app was the only refresh this year. :) Thank you Microsoft.

...Just a couple comments.
> This is a great idea, although it isn't an entirely new idea and it's been discussed and proposed by other vendors -- especially peripheral vendors for various systems over the years. It's a total no-brainer -- IBM used to offer a similar solution to this on some of their old portable systems that preceeded today's notebook computers. Where they allowed end users to choose their keyboard style and/or swap out the numeric keypad for other items. i think all they had available was a trackball with two buttons, the number pad and one other device that I can't recall. I want to say it was a compact tape system or a 720K 3.5" floppy drive. They weren't hot-swappable by any means and you needed a screwdriver and a little bit of luck to swap out the parts, but it was somewhat of a nod in this general direction. If Apple is successfully granted a patent for this, I'll be shocked. And that's my negative comment...
> I'll be curious to see if they can offer this and still keep the ~1" overall thickness of the current notebook systems.
> Anyway, I hope Apple does this. I can think of a few different inserts I would buy - starting with the two-button trackpad and an A/V editing deck.
...So instead of praising Apple on this one, I will have to say, "it's about damn time!".

Good call... it is really humorous to read a lot of the comments, and the best part is the speculation gets more intense with every page. Haha... just funny.
I am really curious to see what Apple has up its sleeves though, (some of their ideas have tanked), but they don't have a huge reputation for disappointment...
Ironically, there is a rumor (one more!) that specifically debunks all the "sky is falling" speculation here.
Not that I give much credence to any of thi (with the ipad, i learnt that it is best to assume no one really knows what they are talking about when speculating about apple), but I put a little more value in the words of wsj journalists than ms rumors commenters.

America's military is secondary. The empire is an economic one and the dollar is it's weapon of choice.
Erm, even though the military takes up 1/3 of the federal budget?

Why do you live in America then? Seriously? Why?
Move to Japan if you dont want looting.
Move to France if you want "#1 Healthcare"
Move to the jungle if you don't want to hear advertisements.
Take your time machine to Nazi Germany if it's really THAT tough living with the other 2 of 3 major political parties. I'm sure you would love the fantastic single-party system.
Now onto the OP- I, like most of the posters here I suspect, have never been to Japan, so am hardly qualified to offer an answer.
I also suspect that there is some looting going on, but there are more important things to be reported on than a guy taking a tv from a store: Libya, an earthquake, a heating nuclear reactor, rebecca blacks dub step remix, etc.
You bring up an interesting point. There's no looting in Japan, yet I don't believe most Americans would be happy with all that comes with a culture that has no looting. It is also a culture with extreme conformity. Try explaining to a Japanese person that being gay is accepted as perfectly normal in most parts of the U.S.
Let me give another example. If you were caught with any alcohol on your breathe while driving, you would 1) automatically go to jail 2) will have to pay around 5-6k in fines and 3) be fired from your job and 4) have an incredibly difficult time ever finding a job again. There's no due process; besides no one would accuse you unless you did something. And if there's a conflict between a Japanese person and a foreigner, it has to be the foreigner's fault. My friend got into a car accident which wasn't her fault. The Japanese party was allowed to go after talking with the police for about 20 minutes. My friend was question on site for 2-3 hours and taken to the station for another 10 hours. All for a simple traffic accident with no injuries.

You don't KNOW these things, you assume them.
They make 2-3 times as much money as when they only made computers, I don't see the problem.
My point stands. Steve should resign. He's done.
To whoever said to me 'you want this guy to the thing that puts food on his table for his family just over a product flaw' I am assuming that was supposed to be 'you want to fire this guy (steve) over a product flaw'.
The BILLIONAIRE doesn't need Apple's money to put food on his table you fool.
This isn't his first mistake, and wont be his last.

For the last time.... it's not coming out this year.
iPad = spring
iPhone = summer
iPod = fall
Once a year cycle. Stupid source.
hmmm how do you explain the strong rumors of the iPhone 5 not coming out till fall? or possibly even winter? no cycle is perfect and stays unchanged

Apple has its hand full for the rest of the year:
iPhone 5 in the Fall...
Converting all their consumer computers to Intel Sandybridge...
(and removing the optical drive.... ;) did I just say that?)

Looking forward to an improved native turn by turn navigation app. IMO this is night and day the biggest advantage Android phones have over the iPhone. The turn by turn nagivation and voice integration of the Google maps navigation app on my Droid was absolutely amazing and the free iPhone apps pale in comparison. I haven't tried any of the paid navigation apps. What I'd really like is Google's navigation app on the iPhone but I'm assuming that will never happen. Hopefully this new app will be ready with iOS 5

There's people still happy to go for a 3GS even today over the 4 so what is people's problem that some will still want to go for a 4 when the 5 is out albeit in white and 10 months late? FFS, shut up and quit your moaning.

Great...10 months after the fact.
Ok... Give me examples what would iPhone 5 achieve at this point? What "innovation" can it bring with all this crappy iOS that is way behind competition?
All this CPU raw power game is retarded.

Everyone I know either has an iPhone or wants an iPhone. I even know a slew of Apple-loathing PC fanboys who have iPhones and HATE that they have iPhones, but love the iPhones so much.
Most people wanting an iPhone, that I know, don't have a problem with the $199 price tag, but with the 2-year plan and cost per month. They are generally cell phone non-dependants who have use-as-you-go plans due to lack of consuming need. $120/mo. for everything unlimited is ridiculous. If it was $40/mo. for everything unlimited, I believe cell providers would see a surge in sales. Then again, would that cheap a price provide them profit?

Perhaps iLife 07 will see some major enhancements and as a result, be released in tandem with Leopard to capitallize on certain functionality/integration. :cool:
i hope so, os x should include ilife 07 on the os x install dvd. Not just with new computers.

Apple is unlikely to buy Netflix. Some of Netflix's contracts with media companies likely include a termination clause that can be invoked when the company is bought. That's likely why Apple had to shut down Lala after they bought it.

Oooohhh.. 8 seems like a big number!! :) Is it mm circumference or just.. numbers someone decided on?
Ah, a labret.. I learned that word freshman year.. then the girl with the labret piercing squirted grape juice at me through the hole.
OMG freaky, but she' first chair at Oberlin now, so I guess she can labret-squirt anyone she wants now, 'cause she's principal bass at OBERLIN her freaking junior year. (just... DAMN! I mean.. DAYMN!)
Dude, those look so cool! I wish I could have one and not look like a stupid goob. :(
guess you haven't seen the pictures i put up in the Macrumors Pics!! Thread LoL.....
the way the gauges work is weird, smallest is 20, but your most common is 18, the lower the number the bigger the size. its weird, i know. i can't squirt anything through my labret, its only a 14.... maybe if it was 12 or bigger. so 2 would be a bit more than double what i have now...
here is what a quick search turned up Linky (http://www.tribalectic.com/SizingInfo.asp)
